Our Progress

- Our collaborated research with StammerTalk community on fair speech AI for stuttering is accepted by InterSpeech 2024! Our paper reports the community-led process to collecting and annotating one of the largest stuttered speech corpus of conversational and voice command speech, as well as the effectiveness of finetuning existing ASR models using our corpus in improving ASR accuracy for stuttered speech. Read the preprint at arXiv, and join us in making speech AI more inclusive more all!
- Our paper, titled “’I Want to Publicize My Stutter’: Community-led Collection and Curation of Chinese Stuttered Speech Data” has been accepted by CSCW 2024! We discuss the (huge) benefits and (practical) challenges of grassroots AI data collection with and by the StammerTalk community over an extensive ethnographic study of community’s working process, motivation, and sentiments. Read the preprint and help us build a just and inclusive data model with marginalized communities.
- Our paper, “Re-envisioning Remote Meetings: Co-designing Inclusive and Empowering Videoconferencing with People Who Stutter”, just received an honorable mention for the best paper award at the **ACM Conference on Designing Interactive Systems (DIS)** 2024! We thank the reviewers and conference organizing committee for their recognition and invite you to read the full paper here.
